Men's leather footwear is a regional trade before it is a product. This page describes the production region behind every program on this site: what is publicly documented about the Yongjia cluster, what its density means for a buyer, and how goods leave it.

The cluster in plain terms
A production base with a public record
Oubei, in Yongjia County, is recognized in China as a men's leather shoe production base within the wider Wenzhou shoe-making region. Local public industry data describes a Yongjia cluster of more than 1,000 footwear enterprises, with footwear among the county's four pillar industries.
According to Wenzhou footwear industry association figures for 2024 (projected), shoe manufacturers across Wenzhou shipped more than 560 million pairs, with a combined value above RMB 28 billion (approx. US$4 billion). The city counts over 4,000 shoe manufacturers.
The Oubei district is also home to the headquarters of major Chinese footwear brands, including Red Dragonfly.

What cluster density means for buyers
Density is not a statistic; it changes how an order behaves. Four effects matter in daily program work.
- Hide and component markets near the factories. Leathers, soles, lasts and findings are sourced within the same district, which shortens the distance between a specification change and its implementation.
- Specialized workshops per operation. Welting, lasting, finishing and hardware each sit with lines that do them daily — so a style is matched to competence rather than to whatever capacity happens to be free.
- Flexible capacity from pilot to running production. A pilot order and a running program can occupy different plants under one organizer, and the re-order does not queue behind another buyer's container.
- Competitive cluster pricing. Suppliers price against neighbors they can see, which keeps quotations anchored to factory-level cost rather than to layers of intermediaries.

Geography & access
Inside Wenzhou, connected to the coast
Yongjia County lies within Wenzhou, in Zhejiang Province, and the Y&F Leather desk sits in the county's Oubei district — inside the production base itself, not in a sales office two provinces away. The cluster operates within reach of Wenzhou's port and rail links, and container shipments typically leave via nearby Zhejiang ports.

Investment follows the trade
Footwear has been one of Yongjia's pillar industries for decades, and the upgrade is now on the public record. The district's shoe and apparel fashion-technology park, opened its first phase in 2019, was planned to combine making with design and display; a converted factory campus now hosts an AI footwear-design platform turning out hundreds of style proposals a day (per local industry reporting); and a mid-market factory project commissioned for roughly 10,000 pairs a day is scheduled to complete in 2027. At city level, the industry runs under a designated "chain-leader" program with a published action plan to build a world-class footwear cluster.
For a buyer the significance is practical: development resources that once required a trip to a distant design center are increasingly available where the factories are, which shortens the road from a sketch to a counter sample. Figures above are cited from local public reporting and are directional, not program commitments. One caution, in our own voice
A region's scale does not transfer to any single supplier. The cluster's figures are a reason to look here; the reason to stay is a vetted line, a written standard and an inspection report you can read. That is the part we run.
