Frequently Asked Questions

Direct answers on how Y&F Leather organizes men's leather footwear programs — minimums, sampling, lead times, materials, terms and quality. If your question is not covered, the contact form reaches our export desk directly.

How do your sizes convert — EU, UK, US and inner length?

Our grade rules run on EU sizing (39–46 across the range). Reference conversion below — final fit is confirmed on the counter sample, because inner length follows the last, not just the size number.

EUUKUS (men's)Inner length (approx.)
396724.5 cm
406.57.525.1 cm

Half sizes and market-specific grading are available on request; width platforms (standard D, wide E/EE, comfort) are listed under Customization.

Are you a factory?

No. Y&F Leather is a supply chain organizer based in the Yongjia cluster, Wenzhou — not a single factory. We place each program with partner workshops matched to its specification, then run sampling, quality control and consolidated delivery under one team and one standard. You work with factory-level economics without managing factories yourself.

What is your minimum order?

The pilot tier starts at 50–100 pairs per style, mixed sizes, built for first orders and market tests. The standard program minimum is 300 pairs per style per color, and newly developed styles carry a 500-pair minimum. Final minimums are confirmed with your quotation, since they depend on the style and materials.

How fast can I get samples?

Samples ship in 7–14 days on existing lasts. If the program needs a new last, allow 15–20 days for last development on top. The sample fee is US$50–100 per style and is credited toward your order on bulk confirmation.

What is the production lead time?

Bulk production runs 30–45 days ex-factory, counted from receipt of the deposit and approval of the PP sample. Transit time on top depends on your Incoterm and destination; the shipping terms page sets out both phases step by step.

Can I mix styles or materials in one order?

Yes — and this is where an organizer differs from a single factory. A mixed program places each style with the workshop that makes it best, then consolidates the finished goods into one shipment under one document set. Mixing constructions — cemented suede loafers alongside Goodyear-welted oxfords, for example — is routine, and each line is quoted on its own material grade.

Do you offer private label and OEM?

Both. OEM builds to your tech pack; ODM adapts designs from the cluster range to your brief; private label puts your brand on proven platforms — logo, packaging and specification. Branding options and their thresholds are set out on the customization page.

How do you guarantee the leather grade I am paying for?

Materials are specified by grade code, not by loose labels: FG full-grain, TG top-grain, SP split and suede, NB nubuck, with the exact upper written into the specification — FG-01 full-grain calf, matte, for example. Incoming leather is checked against that specification before cutting, and your quotation states the grade you are paying for. We avoid the phrase “genuine leather” precisely because it specifies nothing.

What documentation comes with a shipment?

The standard export set: commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading, with a certificate of origin on request. Test reports are arranged per program against your destination market's requirements and provided with the shipment where agreed in the order.

What are your payment terms?

The reference structure is a 30% deposit by T/T on order confirmation and the 70% balance before shipment. Terms are indicative and fixed per program in the proforma invoice; other structures can be discussed for established programs.

Which shipping terms do you quote on?

Our default quotation basis is FOB, loading at Wenzhou or Ningbo. EXW, CIF and DDP are available and arranged case by case. The shipping terms page compares all four and shows where responsibility transfers.

Can we visit, or book a video factory tour?

Both are welcome. On-site visits in Yongjia can be arranged directly; for most first programs a live video factory tour is faster — a walkthrough of the production floor, the stitching and lasting lines and packing, scheduled Monday–Saturday, 8:30–18:00 (UTC+8). Use the contact form and choose Factory tour as your interest.

How are quality claims handled?

Claims are raised at the pre-shipment inspection, where findings are documented against the approved PP sample and specification. Depending on what the inspection shows, the program moves through rework, replacement or a credit negotiation — agreed with you before goods are released, not after. The quality page describes the inspection stages in full.

Indicative figures for planning purposes — binding quotation upon specification.
